Inter-Faith Rally in Makati
Today, members of Freedom from Debt Coalition joined the contingent of Laban ng Masa and the majority of the Filipino people who want this administration down in an Inter-Faith Rally held in Makati City. Estimated 80,000 people joined the rally and expressed their disgusts to the present government.
Below are just some of the pictures I took. To view all pictures, please visit FDC’s Flickr account.

In an effort to appease a Metro Manila public crushed by unstable jobs and livelihood and ever-rising prices of basic commodities, power and water, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo called on Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) to reduce its rates. For this purpose she directed the Department of Trade and Industry to file an omnibus petition with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

In a separate development, the Freedom from Debt Coalition (FDC) denounced the government’s “ploy” to appease the public by reducing prices of basic commodities and power and water bills despite tightly managed consumption.
FDC said the current administration even asked the Department of Trade and Industry to file an omnibus petition with the Energy Regulatory Commission to require power distributor Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) to slash its rates.
“While the action is welcome and, in fact, long overdue, we are wary of the timing and motives behind this order. President Arroyo is under pressure to resign from office in the face of serious allegations of corruption and evilness,” said FDC.
